Jonathan Marchessault's Fate in Nashville Emerges Following David Pagnotta Report

Jonathan Marchessault has been at the centre of trade speculation as of late, but now a top insider has confirmed that he's not likely to be moved this summer.

The 2024/25 season saw several disappointing teams fail to live up to expectations, but none more so than the Nashville Predators after they landed Steven Stamkos, Brady Skjei and Jonathan Marchessault in free agency.

Now, the latter has been linked to a massive trade this off-season, with many speculating that Marchessault wants to compete for another Stanley Cup late in his career, with the belief that that may not happen with the Nashville Predators.

The latest report from Insider David Pagnotta disputes that however, as he reveals that there's no trade expected to happen this summer unless the team get blown away by an offer.

With much younger players available via an offer sheet and even other top guys such as Jason Robertson available via trade, it's safe to say that as of right now, Marchessault wouldn't be the top target for any team in the NHL.

That's not to say that things may not change however, as the Predators could see the price that other pieces go for around the league and look to move on the former Conn Smythe winner, but with the belief in Nashville being that this veteran team can turn things around, they won't want to give Marchessault away for cheap.

With four years remaining on his deal at a $5.5 million salary cap hit, Marchessault may be one of the cheaper stars available this summer if a team blows Nashville away, but as of right now, all signs are pointing to the team running it back again as they look to compete in the wide open Western Conference.
