
This morning, Boston Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo was named to Team Finland for the Olympics. Korpisalo will be replacing Buffalo Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as he suffered a lower-body injury in the first period of last Tuesday’s win over Toronto. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said Luukkonen was progressing in his recovery has not been on the ice since he sustained the injury. Korpisalo will join teammate defenseman Henri Jokiharju on Team Finland. The Bruins will now have nine participants in the Olympic Games. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy and fellow goaltender Jeremy Swayman will be on Team USA, and forwards David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha will play for Czechia. Forward Elias Lindholm was expected to play for Team Sweden, but he’s currently injured. Sweden will also have defenseman Hampus Lindholm. Team Latvia will have Bruins prospect forward Dans Locmelis.

Korpisalo this season in 21 games for the Bruins is 10-8-1 with a 3.12 goals-against average, a .895 save percentage, and a shutout. Luukkonen, this season in 21 games, is 11-7-2 with a 2.73 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.
Korpisalo has played in 324 career NHL games, is 136-125-33 with a 3.05 goals-against average, and a .900 save percentage. He has represented Team Finland in the 2017 IIHF World Championship, 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, and 2012 IIHF U-18 World Junior Championship.
