The series between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues is over but the bad blood is still there.

The Blues held their end-of-season media availabilities on Tuesday and goaltender Jordan Binnington was asked what was going through his mind when he tossed a water bottle at Nazem Kadri after Game 3.

“I went to get my knee checked out mid-game and I was coming back to the rink,” Binnington said. “The game had just ended, I was walking down the hallway and couldn’t find a recycling bin on my way down the hallway.

“Right before I walked into the locker room, I saw [Kadri] doing an interview, smiling, laughing, and I’m there in a knee brace, limping down the hallway. I just felt like it was a god-given opportunity. I could stay silent and go into the room or I could say something and have him look me in the eye and understand what’s going on.”

During Game 3, Kadri crashed into Binnington, ultimately knocking St. Louis’ goaltender out of the series with a lower-body injury. The Avalanche would wind up winning the series in six games, with backup Ville Husso posting an .879 save percentage in parts of four games in relief of Binnington.

The Avalanche will open their Western Conference Final series against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night in Colorado.
