Justin Faulk Leaves Game Against Flyers

The Detroit Red Wings, in a crucial game tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers, have lost their top trade deadline acquisition. The Red Wings and Flyers both are tied with 86 points and trail the Columbus Blue Jackets by two points for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Red Wings are leading 3-1 over the Flyers in the third period. They will be playing the remainder of the game without defenseman Justin Faulk, as he left the game. Ken Daniels said he’s still in the locker room, and the Red Wings’ Twitter posted he will not return to tonight’s game. The reason has not been released as of now.

Faulk, since being acquired by Detroit, has appeared in 11 games, recording three points on a goal and two assists. He has a minus-four with 22 blocked shots and 16 total hits. Before the trade in 61 games with the Blues, he had 32 points on 11 goals and 21 assists. He was a minus-three with two power-play goals, three game-winning goals, 102 blocked shots, and 65 total hits. He will be crucial to the Red Wings’ home stretch if they want to get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Faulk is in his 15th season. He has played for the Carolina Hurricanes, Blues, and Red Wings. In 1,052 games, he has 493 points on 142 goals and 351 assists. He’s a -73 with 49 power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, and 36 game-winning goals. He has 1,447 blocked shots and 1,637 total hits. He finished seventh in Calder Memorial Trophy voting in his rookie season with Carolina and has finished as high as 15th in Norris Trophy voting, which came in 2021-22, his third season with the Blues.
