K'Andre Miller's heir aims to earn spot with New York Rangers, and has real chance to achieve it

Scott Morrow arrived with the New York Rangers as the main piece of the trade that sent K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes, which generated high expectations around the new young defenseman of the New York team.

Morrow, 22, gave an interview to the Rangers' official media and commented on his intention to surprise the team in the camp prior to the start of the 2025-26 season. And truth be told, there are reasons to believe he will earn his place.

"K'Andre was a big part of the team here. If they value me enough to want me back in a package like that for a player that good, it shows that they think somewhat more highly of me. I just want to prove them right," said Morrow.

Adam Fox and Vladislav Gavrikov are projected to be the top pair, and Will Borgen is the only other defenseman with a secured spot, so the possibility of the native of Darien obtaining a role on the team is real.

Scott Morrow joined the New York Rangers rookie camp

However, Morrow does not take it for granted that he will be considered by coach Mike Sullivan, just for having been part of the trade that sent Miller to Carolina, and therefore, he decided to join the rookie camp, prior to the Rangers' main camp.

The player has a physique that gives him great potential to improve defensively, in addition to having the ability to move the puck quickly on breakouts and contribute in offensive aspects, making him a versatile player. "Being more reliable defensively is something I'm working on," he assured.

Morrow concluded by explaining that he is focused mainly on his process and on demonstrating his professional growth, and the reality is that by ability and context, he has a real possibility of carving out a place in Coach Sullivan's plans.
