Kirby Dach remains a question mark. The hope is still that he can stay healthy and carve out his role, but uncertainty is part of the equation. Kapanen gives Montréal some breathing room there. Suppose Dach finds his game, great. If not, the team isn’t scrambling for answers.

What also stands out is how well Kapanen fits what the Canadiens are trying to build. This is a team that values structure, awareness, and responsibility. Flash is nice, but trust matters more. Kapanen checks those boxes, and that’s why his role has grown.
