Late Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Kings signed forward Cole Guttman to a two-year, two-way contract. The contract has an NHL AAV of $775,000. The first season features a minor-league salary of $450,000, with $475,000 guaranteed, while Guttman will have $500,000 guaranteed with a minor-league cap hit of $475,000 in year two.

Guttman was a Group 6 unrestricted free agent after his latest contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, which also had an NHL cap hit of $775,000 and a minor-league salary of $450,000.
The Northridge, California native has spent his entire career with the Blackhawks organization. Guttman was initially drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round, 180th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft. However, after playing four years at the University of Denver, he became a free agent, leading him to sign with Chicago.
Though he spent most of the past three seasons with the Blackhawks’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, Guttman has seen some time in the NHL. After playing 14 games with Chicago during the 2022-23 season, he appeared in 27 games in 2023-24, notching four goals and four assists for eight points.
In 41 career games with the Hawks, the 26-year-old has scored eight goals and six assists for 14 points.
When Guttman has been with Rockford, he’s been a solid scoring threat. In spending the entire 2024-25 campaign with the Hogs, he set career highs in goals (23), assists (34) and points (57), leading his team in scoring for the first time. He also posted five assists in seven Calder Cup Playoff games this past spring.
In 148 AHL games, the former L.A. Jr. Kings product has scored 55 goals and 72 assists for 127 points.
Along with his professional career, Guttman has some hardware from his younger years, having captained the Denver Pioneers to an NCAA Championship in 2022.
