The Los Angeles Kings have come to terms with their top draft choice of the 2026 NHL Draft. The Kings announced they’ve signed forward Elton Hermansson to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Shortly after Los Angeles’ announcement, PuckPedia shared the year-by-year breakdown of Hermansson’s entry-level contract:
| Year | NHL Salary | Signing Bonus | Perf. Bonus | AHL Salary |
| Year 1 (TBD) | $922.5K | $102.5K | NA | $87.5K |
| Year 2 (TBD) | $967.5K | $107.5K | $500K | $87.5K |
| Year 3 (TBD) | $1.0125MM | $112.5K | $500K | $87.5K |
Hermansson, 18, was drafted with the 19th overall pick of this summer’s draft. A native of Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, Hermansson spent much of last season with the HockeyAllsvenskan’s MoDo Hockey, scoring 11 goals and 21 points in 38 games with a +9 rating. Additionally, the right-handed winger tallied one goal in 13 postseason contests.
On the international stage, Hermansson participated in the U18 IIHF World Junior Championship last season, as well as other international contests. At World Juniors, Hermansson registered four goals and 12 points in seven tournament contests, and 14 goals and 33 points in 18 overall contests.
Standing at 6’1″, 181lbs, Hermansson already has the frame of a capable NHL winger. Still, the Kings will have to monitor his development from afar during the 2026-27 season. Hermansson isn’t expected to join Los Angeles for training camp, and he’ll spend an additional season at MoDo.
Unfortunately, after losing in the semifinals to BIK Karlskoga, MoDo will remain in the HockeyAllsvenskan league for the 2026-27 season. Likely, Hermansson is still contractually committed to MoDo for next season at the very least, as the Kings would likely want him to continue his development in the SHL, if possible.
