Known observer weighs in and reveals Christian Dvorak's value on the trade market

The name Christian Dvorak has been coming up a lot in trade rumors since the start of the Canadiens' training camp, and we have a potential lead.

It's one thing to want to trade Dvorak, and it's another to want to make room for young players. But, it also has to make sense for the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Kent Hughes has always been extremely clear on this.

As the excellent Denis Gauthier recently mentioned, we shouldn't underestimate the contribution that experienced NHL players can bring, especially to a young and inexperienced team-especially if the team is seriously aiming to be in the playoff race this season.

A Trade Involving Christian Dvorak? His Value Might Not Be Worth It

On Wednesday, the excellent observer Marc-Olivier Beaudoin spoke about Dvorak's trade value, and let's just say that Kent Hughes might have to be patient with this matter.

'He probably has a negative value right now, so it's better to keep him than to pay to get rid of him. He could bring back a draft pick at the deadline with salary retention (and/or good performances during the season).'

And you, do you think Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton should pay to part ways with Dvorak (if his value is indeed negative)?

It's true that with a strong start to the season, with a tally of 25 points in 50 games (for example) and solid efficiency in the faceoff circle, Dvorak could significantly increase his value leading up to the trade deadline.

This is certainly a file to keep an eye on, but I don't expect Kent Hughes to trade Christian Dvorak under these conditions.

Dvorak, 28, is entering the final year of his six-year contract, earning $4.45 million per year. It will be an important campaign for him.
