The Seattle Kraken will have a new look for select games in the 2025-26 NHL season, after unveiling a third jersey on Thursday.
The team’s first-ever third jersey – dubbed The Abyss – features an all-black look with bright blue trim, designed to resemble the bioluminescence found in the waters off the shores in the Pacific Northwest.
Other features include a blacked-out “stealth” logo and “sonar sleeves,” to resemble sonar pings which “echo through the dark, reaching into the unknown, hinting at what lies just beyond.”
While it is the first official third jersey, the Kraken have had alternates in the past, having previously worn reverse retro jerseys and the special edition Winter Classic jersey. The new one, however, will be worn for the 2025-26 season and at least two after that.

Black gloves, shorts and socks will also complement The Abyss jerseys, while players will wear matte black helmets, which all debut on Nov. 5 against the San Jose Sharks.
In total, the jerseys will be worn on 12 occasions in 2025-26, including twice in quick succession against the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 4 and Minnesota Wild on Dec. 8, as well as against the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 23 and New Jersey Devils on Jan. 25.
The final game of 2025-26 featuring The Abyss jerseys is set for April 9 vs. the Vegas Golden Knights.
Ahead of the Kraken’s new jersey unveiling, other teams announced new looks to start September, with the Ottawa Senators revealing their long-rumored red third jersey, and the Carolina Hurricanes announcing new all-white away jerseys.
“This is an exciting new look for our team, and the jersey is phenomenal,” Kraken captain Jordan Eberle told local Seattle outlet, K5. “The glow-in-the-dark element is really unique, and it’s such an eye-catching look. I love the inspiration behind it and all the details that went into the design.”
The jerseys will be available for public sale on Oct. 5, with presales and pre-orders beginning Sept. 20, with priority given to Kraken season-ticket holders.
