Kraken’s Jared McCann Activated Off IR

On Sunday, Dec. 28, the Seattle Kraken announced they have activated forward Jared McCann from injured reserve (IR). This comes just hours before the Kraken are slated to host the Philadelphia Flyers

McCann was a full participant in practice on Saturday ahead of this game. He was taking line rushes with Berkly Catton and Shane Wright on the third line. He alternated with Ryan Winterton on the right wing, and with McCann back in the lineup, Winterton is listed as a healthy scratch.

This was McCann’s second time on IR, after he was injured back in October. He has only played 11 games so far this season, where he has recorded eight points via five goals and three assists. Due to this latest injury, he has missed the past seven games with the Kraken.

The Kraken have been struggling prior to their last three games. Before their California road trip, they lost 10 of their last 11 games. Right before the break, they won all three games against the three California teams, putting them back in the win column and giving them a boost heading into the Christmas break.

With the Kraken now back on a win streak and their franchise points leader back in the lineup, the Kraken should be confident heading into this game against the Flyers. Of course, anything can happen, but with Catton recently off IR and now McCann back in the lineup, Seattle is slowly getting closer to a healthy roster.

The Kraken are just missing Jaden Schwartz amongst the forwards now, who helped pick up a lot of the slack when McCann was injured. Before he was injured, he was leading the team with 15 points. Jordan Eberle has now crept into the lead with 23 points. The Kraken have been hurting without both Schwartz and McCann, so it is a good thing he is back.
