LA Kings prospect Helge Grans has been added to Team Sweden’s preliminary roster for the rescheduled 2022 World Juniors Tournament in August.

From the press release (loosely translated to English):

“The last two years have been special, not only for us in the hockey industry but for the whole world. It feels very good that the cohort in 2002, after having both the U18 and U20 WC canceled earlier, now has the opportunity to play a WC. For them and for us leaders, it will be a bit of the last night with the gang. Therefore, it feels fantastic fun to go to Edmonton and get an opportunity to finish in the best way,” says Tomas Montén, the head coach for Team Sweden.

Grans, 20, was one of the final cuts in Team Sweden’s WJC camp for the 2021 World Juniors before making the roster on his second attempt. However, the 2022 tournament was postponed after several teams encountered COVID-19-related issues.

Selected in the second round of the 2020 NHL draft, Grans made the jump to professional hockey in North America this past season for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League.

There, he tallied seven goals, including one power-play goal, and 17 assists and +7 in 56 games.

The rescheduled tournament will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton from Aug. 9-20.
