LA Kings odds to win the Cup, Conference, and Division

A look at the LA Kings’ odds of winning the Stanley Cup, Western Conference, and Pacific Division. Courtesy of DraftKings.

We are just over two months (61 days, but who’s counting?) away from the start of the LA Kings season. As we sit here in the awkward period between free agency and the beginning of training camp, what better time to look at how the oddsmakers view the LA Kings entering the 2022-23 season?

Stanley Cup

The LA Kings come in at +3500 (35-to-1) to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup. There are 12 other teams with better odds, including three division rivals: Edmonton Oilers (+1600), Vegas Golden Knights (+1900), and the Calgary Flames (+1900).

At +3500, the Kings have the same odds as the Nashville Predators but just ahead of the St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, and Washington Capitals, all of who come in at +4000.

The favorites to win the 2022-23 Stanley Cup are the Colorado Avalanche at +400.

LA’s California rivals are heavy underdogs, with the Anaheim Ducks coming in at +15000 and the San Jose Sharks at +18000.

The Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Kraken could be considered sleeper picks in the division this year, but their Cup odds are very long at +5000 and +10000, respectively.

The teams in the Eastern Conference with the best odds to win the Cup are the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs, each at +850.

Western Conference

With some strong teams coming out of the East, perhaps you’d want to try your luck and wager the LA Kings to represent the West in the Stanley Cup Final. LA is +1500 to do just that. The Avalanche are favorites at +170. Pacific Division rivals Edmonton is next at +550, while Vegas, Minnesota, and Calgary are all +850 to represent the former Campbell Conference.

Vancouver (+2200), Seattle (+5000), Anaheim (+7500), and San Jose (+8000) round out the division.

Pacific

With the addition of Kevin Fiala, the Calgary Flames losing two franchise cornerstones, and the Vegas Golden Knights giving away players, surely this is the year the Kings can claim the Pacific Division?

Well, DraftKings gives the Kings the fourth-best chances at +500. Despite the offseason, Edmonton (+200), Calgary (+300), and Vegas (+300) all remain higher than LA.

With as tight and competitive as this division should be, +500 (an implied probability of 16.7%) is enticing.

The other division favorites are:

Central: Colorado (-175)
Metropolitan: Pittsburgh (+230)
Atlantic: Toronto and Florida (+185)

Matchup

Another offering that DraftKings has is a head-to-head matchup on which team gets more points on the season. The LA Kings are matched up with the Washington Capitals. This is the only matchup that is a dead-heat, with each team coming in at -115.

Hart Trophy

Lastly, we’ll take a look at the Kings’ players with the best chances of winning the Hart Trophy. Out of 100 players, LA had two players make the list (Note: these odds are courtesy of The Action Network):

Anze Kopitar: +6000
Kevin Fiala: +10000

Kopitar came in at 36th place, tied with Jack Hughes, Andrei Svechnikov, Jason Robertson, Brady Tkachuk, Mark Scheifele, Vladimir Tarasenko, Filip Forsberg, and Kyle Connor.

In 57th place, Fiala was tied with 23 other players. Most notably: Ryan O’Reilly, Alex DeBrincat, Gabriel Landeskog, William Nylander, John Tavares, Adam Fox, Brad Marchand, Elias Lindholm, and Patrik Laine.

As expected, Connor McDavid (+300) is the favorite, with Auston Matthews (+420) and teammate Leon Draisaitl (+600) not far behind.

The highest Pacific Division players not named McDavid or Draisaitl are the recently acquired Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau in 9th place (+1500) and Vegas’ newest shiny toy, Jack Eichel (+2500), in 13th place.
