With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Angus Booth!

Birthdate: April 27, 2004

Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec

Height: 6’1

Weight: 190 lbs

Position: Defense

Shoots: Left

Draft: 4th round, 116th overall, 2022 NHL Entry Draft

2024-25 season

Angus Booth’s rookie season couldn’t have been more phenomenal. Booth was a mainstay in the Reign lineup and played on the penalty kill when healthy. The first-year pro played with Joe Hicketts to start the year, then had a few different partners throughout the season. Being a part of a young defensive core, Booth quickly climbed up the trust tree for Marco Sturm, and playing at the Rookie Faceoff tournament helped kickstart that trust.

Booth’s gap control, poise, skating, and first pass to exit the zone were some of his strengths. You can see why Sturm and the coaching staff were pleased with his development throughout the year. Despite missing 22 games with an injury from February to April and the regular season finale, Booth ended the year with 13 points (2 G, 11 A) in 50 games. He played in both playoff games and received praise from Hicketts and Sturm after the season.

2025-26 outlook

The 21-year-old defenseman is expected to be loaned back to the Reign for this upcoming season. He’ll be part of a young defensive core, again, filled with Kings prospects vying for playing time. Already having a year under his belt and making an impression on Sturm and Chris Hajt, people should be excited to see the possible leaps Booth takes this year. Getting stronger will be key, but he should play a role on a second or third pair for new head coach Andrew Lord when in the lineup.
