With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Jan Jenik!

Birthdate: September 15, 2000

Birthplace: Nymburk, Czechia

Height: 6’1

Weight: 199 lbs

Position: Center/wing

Shoots: Left

Draft: 3rd round, 65th overall, 2018 NHL Draft

*NOTE: Starting August 23rd, my Mom picked the order of the training camp player previews for the Reign players because I couldn’t figure out what order to do them in. So, I asked for her assistance. Today, she chose Jan Jenik!

2025-26 season

Jan Jenik spent the season with the Belleville Senators (Ottawa Senators AHL affiliate) and two games with the Ontario Reign. In 43 games with Belleville, the 25-year-old forward amassed 17 points (9 G, 8 A). He was dealt to the Reign a week after the trade deadline for defenseman Samuel Bolduc, which meant neither player was eligible to play in the NHL for the rest of the season.

In two games with the Reign, he played right wing and center and didn’t look like a fit. Part of that is coming to a new team late in the season and trying to fit in, and the coaching staff figuring out where to place him in the lineup. Those two games in the weekend series in Iowa against the Wild were the only two Jenik played in after joining the Reign; he scored zero points. He was scratched for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

2026-27 outlook

To my surprise, the Kings re-signed Jenik to a one-year, two-way NHL contract. Jenik was brought back for the sole purpose of bringing depth to the Reign. I wouldn’t count him as an everyday player, with the squad having a bunch of prospects to distribute playing time to. He’ll find time and should contribute offensively, with training camp and a chance to start the season in the organization instead of late in the season.

The @LAKings have signed forward Jan Jeník to a one-year, two-way contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $850,000 through the 2026-27 season.
