With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up first: Kevin Fiala!

Kevin Fiala

Height: 6’0

Weight: 205 lbs

Position: Left wing

Shoots: Left

Draft: 1st round, 11th overall, 2014 NHL Draft

2025-26 season

In a season that was trying offensively for the Kings, Kevin Fiala was one of the top scorers on the team heading into the Olympic Break with 40 points in 56 games. Unfortunately for both Fiala and the Kings, his season was cut short at the Olympics when he suffered a season-ending leg injury while representing Team Switzerland.

It was a devastating blow for the Kings because the club had just acquired Artemi Panarin with an idea of having them in the top six and on the top power-play unit; that never materialized. In his season exit interview, general manager Ken Holland iterated that Fiala would be ready for training camp.

Fiala finished the season fifth on the team in scoring with 40 points and led all forwards with a 53.8 CF%, according to Natural Stat Trick.

2026-27 outlook

If Fiala is ready to go for training camp, he’ll easily be slotted into Los Angeles’ top six under his former head coach in Nashville, Peter Laviolette. He probably won’t play on the same line as Panarin, but should still bring skill and creativity to whatever line he is placed on, and make fans pull their hair out with some of the head-scratching decisions Fiala makes in addition to that creativity. Let’s hope for a healthy and strong season for Fiala.
