*NOTE: Starting this past Sunday (8/23/2026), my Mom picked the order of the training camp player previews for the Reign players because I couldn’t figure out what order to do them in. So, I asked for her assistance. Today, she chose Lane Pederson!

2025-26 season

Lane Pederson completed his ninth AHL season and led the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in scoring with 48 points (23 G, 25 A) in 63 games. Reign fans, you might remember him from two seasons ago when he was a thorn in the Reign’s side as a member of the Bakersfield Condors. Well, he didn’t have Seth Griffith and Raphael Lavoie playing alongside him in Lehigh Valley, but his lone season in Allentown was a good one, despite not making the playoffs.

Pederson led Lehigh Valley in goals and power-play goals and finished third in assists. He also tallied one short-handed goal.

2026-27 outlook

The Reign won’t have the services of Glenn Gawdin this season as the Kings didn’t re-sign him to an NHL contract. Pederson, a centerman, is the most likely candidate to take over the vacant role after signing a two-year NHL contract with the Kings. Pederson will have to clear waivers to be assigned to the Reign, which I shouldn’t see as an issue for the 29-year-old. Expect him to contribute five-on-five, play on the power play (left circle or bumper position), and on the penalty kill as Gawdin did in his two years with the Reign.
