The Ottawa Senators could be getting some much-needed help on the blue line. Their captain, Thomas Chabot rejoined the main group at practice before their game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Chabot suffered an upper-body injury on October 17, 2026, during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Ottawa ended up handing Philadelphia its first win of the season, and losing Chabot was another tough blow for a Senators team that has already dealt with plenty of injuries.
The Senators have done fairly well since losing their captain. They’ve continued their string start to the season. Unfortunately, the injuries continue to pile up so getting Chabot back in the lineup, will provide a huge boost.
Chabot spoke with reporters after he joined the main group at practice on Monday, Oct. 26.
“I feel good, and slowly coming back. It's obviously something that unfortunately, takes a little bit of time, just needs to kind of get back to normal. But we're slowly feeling better every day, and obviously it's nice to be back in a normal jersey at practice.”
Obviously, it is a great sign to see Cahbot back in a regular jersey at practice. However, that doesn’t mean that the Senators are going to rush him back. With the club being on a West Coast swing, they may wait until they play the Buffalo Sabres at home on Nov. 4th to get him back into game action. That said, if he is ready to go, head coach Travis Green may get him back as soon as they can because of the injuries.
At this time, it seems to be more day-to-day until we find out when Chabot will return. The Senators play the Los Angeles Kings tonight (Thursday, Oct. 29th) at 10:00, so there could be a chance we find out more information later today when the Team meets the media.
