Lauren Kyle Makes Heartbreaking Confession About Life with Connor McDavid

It's not easy dating or being married to an athlete, and the NHL's biggest star, Connor McDavid, likely makes things harder, as revealed by his spouse, Lauren Kyle.

Lauren Kyle McDavid will be watching Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final by the fireplace at her downtown Edmonton bar, Bar Trove. That's where she watched her husband, Oilers captain Connor McDavid, score in Game 5.

Lauren is superstitious just like her husband Connor

Wearing the same heels and red purse may be a little too superstitious, but it shows how much she cares.

The Oilers face a do-or-die Game 6 against the Florida Panthers, who lead their series 3-2. A win would send Game 7 back home in Edmonton; a loss would finish their Cup hopes.

Lauren, 28, recently opened Bar Trove and will have other partners of Oilers players joining her there to watch the game.

'Watching the person you love play every night, you become a very passionate fan.'

She also owns an interior design firm, a furniture store, and makes custom Oilers apparel. A cookbook is coming out this summer. Safe to say, she is a very busy, productive woman.

A native of Sudbury, Ont, she was not raised as a hockey enthusiast, but rather came to appreciate painting, photography, and architecture.

She studied fine arts at UBC and interior design at Toronto Metropolitan University before meeting Connor through her cousin, without knowing how big he was at the time.

Now that he is very famous in the sporting industry, Lauren has admitted that being with an athlete of his stature presents its challenges.

'There's misconceptions around being a hockey wife and that's just an easy narrative for people to chime into. People assume that it's really easy. Our husbands are playing hockey, making money.

But it's actually very difficult. There's a lot of stress. There is such a strain on your family. People don't know about the struggles that are on the inside I just quiet that noise, because there's a lot more positivity than negativity out there.'

As his NHL career soared, she built her own. Now she's even a giant Oilers fan and is so amazed at how the city has banded together in support of the team.

After the Tuesday game, win or lose, she and McDavid will stick to their routine: taking their dog Leonard for a walk along the river valley in Edmonton and talking about the game.

Once the playoffs are over, they will have a regular summer filled with weddings, Muskoka cottage getaways, and evenings spent with cards, pickleball, and trivia.
