Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz will start Thursday’s game against the San Jose Sharks, head coach Craig Berube confirmed to travelling media.
Stolarz is coming off a 28-save performance in a 5-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday. The 32-year-old has posted a 10-9-3 record with a .893 save percentage in 24 appearances this season.
Steven Lorentz and Philippe Myers will re-enter the lineup, while Michael Pezzetta and Troy Stecher will be listed as healthy scratches. Lorentz has recorded five goals and 15 points in 64 games this season, as a staple of Toronto’s fourth line. The 29-year-old has struggled to generate offence lately, with one goal and four points through the calendar year of 2026.
Myers has recorded two assists in 35 games this season. Stecher has recorded three goals and 13 points in 59 games for the Maple Leafs this season. The journeyman defenceman started his Maple Leafs’ tenure by playing the best hockey of his career, with his tenacity and mobility providing a new wrinkle to the team’s blue line. Stecher’s form has cooled off over the past two months, but he’s still been counted upon to operate to provide reliable minutes in a lesser role.
It’s been an eventful week for the Maple Leafs, to say the least. Toronto fired general manager Brad Treliving nearly 90 minutes before puck drop on Monday. MLSE CEO Keith Pelley held media availabilities Tuesday to discuss the vacancy and the overall direction of the franchise, while noting that Berube’s fate will be left up to the next president of hockey operations and/or general manager.
Toronto will conclude its road trip against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, before receiving a three-day break.
