A noteworthy champion is staying in The Six.

On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Jacob Quillan to a one-year, two-way contract. According to PuckPedia, the deal carries an NHL cap hit of $850,000, a minor-league salary of $350,000, and a guaranteed salary of $375,000, through the 2026-27 season.

Quillan will be a restricted free agent next summer with arbitration rights.

Quillan came to the end of his two-year, entry-level contract, which he signed with the team in April 2024, after finishing up an exceptional career at Quinnipiac University. After a solid first season with the Toronto Marlies, the Maple Leafs’ American Hockey League affiliate, the 24-year-old had a memorable 2025-26 campaign. He saw considerable time with a Leafs team that struggled for most of the year, scoring a goal and two assists for three points in 23 games.

On top of that, he scored at an even higher clip with the Marlies. In 40 regular-season games, he posted 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points. In the postseason, Quillan added three goals and nine points in 19 games, helping the Marlies win the franchise’s second Calder Cup.

The Calder Cup was a welcome addition to Quillan’s trophy case, which includes an NCAA championship that he won with the Bobcats in 2023, which saw the Dartmouth, N.S. native score the overtime-winning goal.

Quillan is a useful player throughout the Toronto organization. With the Marlies, he’s an exceptional offensive threat, while he can play a bottom-six role whenever called up to the Leafs.

In 114 regular-season games with the Marlies, Quillan has notched 32 goals and 42 assists for 74 points, with nine points in 24 playoff games.
