Some more additions to one of the teams in the Sunshine State on the opening day of NHL free agency.

On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that the team has signed goaltenders Mads Sogaard and Olivier Rodrigue, as well as defenseman Michael Callahan. All three players have been signed to one-year, two-way contracts.

The additions of Sogaard and Rodrigue add some considerable depth to the position for the Lightning. The team acquired Dennis Hildeby from the Toronto Maple Leafs as part of a deal that sent Nick Paul to their division rival.

Sogaard has long been considered a solid prospect, but he was just never able to find a consistent footing in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators. He played in just two games with the Sens last season, posting a 0-1-0 record with a 4.65 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage. In 27 games with the Belleville Senators, the franchise’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Danish backstop went 7-13-4, with a .369 GAA, a .874 SV% and one shutout.

Sogaard also started a game for Denmark at the Winter Olympics. He gave up five goals on 37 shots in a loss against the eventual gold medalists, the United States.

Rodrigue was with the Rockford IceHogs, the Chicago Blackhawks top farm team, in 2025-26. In 10 games, he went 4-3-1, with a 3.20 GAA and a .891 SV%. It came after an eventful season with the Edmonton Oilers organization, during which he made his NHL debut, going 0-1-0 in two games with a .310 GAA and a .862 SV%. In 141 regular-season games in the AHL, the Quebec native has a career record of 65-55-18, with a 2.94 AA, a .904 SV% and two shutouts.

Callahan saw five games with the Boston Bruins last season, but didn’t register a point. In 56 appearances with the team’s primary affiliate, the Providence Bruins, he notched two goals and 14 assists for 16 points, helping the team finish with the best record in the AHL.

In 22 NHL games, all with Boston, the 26-year-old has one goal and a plus/minus of -6. In 241 regular-season games in the ‘A,’ Callahan has registered nine goals and 43 assists for 52 points, with another five assists in 20 postseason games.
