Lightning's OT winner forces Game 7 vs. Maple Leafs

The Tampa Bay Lightning staved off elimination by rallying to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime Thursday to force a Game 7.

The back-to-back Stanley Cup champions trailed Toronto 3-2 in the third period after allowing three goals in the second period. Tampa Bay tied up the game with a goal from Nikita Kucherov during a five-on-three power play with just over 10 minutes left.

In overtime, Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy shut down several Maple Leafs scoring opportunities before Brayden Point finished the game with a shot that squeaked through the legs of Toronto goaltender Jack Campbell.

Tampa Bay scored one goal in each period while Toronto's scoring came in a flurry with Auston Matthews scoring in the second period followed by John Tavares scoring twice in less than 30 seconds.

The Lightning and Maple Leafs have traded games back and forth with Toronto winning Games 1, 3, and 5. The series will end with a Game 7 on Saturday.
