The Los Angeles Kings will be without a few prominent players as training camp begins. According to the Kings’ Manager of Editorial Content, Zach Dooley, the Kings will be without winger Kevin Fiala for the next several weeks. Dooley also reported that newcomer Mats Zuccarello is expected to miss a few days because of a minor shoulder injury and that veteran defenseman Brian Dumoulin failed his physical before camp.

It’s already public knowledge that Los Angeles would begin training camp without Fiala. Last week, it was reported that he would miss the start of camp as he continues to recover from a gruesome leg injury he suffered at the 2026 Winter Olympics. However, Dooley offered an additional update with more details on Fiala’s recovery.

According to Dooley, Fiala returned to the ice a few weeks ago, but needed a follow-up procedure on his leg after feeling uncomfortable. He’s expected to return to the ice next week and join his teammates within the next two to three weeks, assuming everything goes well. As things currently stand, the Kings hope Fiala can return to the roster by November 1st.

As for Zuccarello, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period reported that he fell last week. Los Angeles didn’t provide additional details, but Zuccarello was in a non-contact jersey this morning. Regardless, there’s no fear that his injury will extend beyond a few days. Zuccarello signed a one-year, bonus-laden deal with the Kings this offseason after seven years with the Minnesota Wild.

Dumoulin’s absence is causing the most confusion. The 13-year veteran is seeking a second opinion, but the Kings didn’t offer any clarity on his injury. Last season, Dumoulin played in all 82 games for Los Angeles, so there shouldn’t be any injury carrying over unless it went unreported this whole time.
