This year's Hockey Day Minnesota was one of the coldest in the event's history, with temperatures dropping well below -10 degrees Fahrenheit. After a handful of games in Hastings on Saturday, it was announced that the 2028 event will be in Maple Grove.

After the coldest outdoor game in professional hockey history on Friday night between the Iowa Wild and Milwaukee Admirals, there were three high school games on Saturday. 

Hastings took down Park Cottage Grove in girls' action in the morning. The East Ridge boys team beat Hastings 2-1, and then the St. Thomas Academy boys team beat Rock Ridge 4-1 in the final game of the afternoon.

Brainerd International Raceway will host Hockey Day Minnesota in 2027. It was announced on Saturday that the event will take place at Central Park in Maple Grove in 2028.

"We’re incredibly excited to be selected as the host site for Hockey Day Minnesota 2028," said Experience Maple Grove Executive Director Greg Anzelc in a release. "We look forward to building on our strong hockey legacy and showcasing the great City of Maple Grove, our business community, and the awesome Hockey Day Minnesota venue at Central Park."

Matchups and more schedule details for future events will be released at a later date.
