Maple Leafs Eyeing Late Offseason Addition: Report

One of the more interesting summers around the NHL has come from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto is coming off another early playoff exit, and the team lost star Mitch Marner to free agency.

The Maple Leafs' front office has been working to replace his production, but it's been harder than expected. However, it seems that Toronto could have some more moves up its sleeves before the summer ends.

Maple Leafs Could Make Late Addition

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs could be looking into adding a talented player for the front line. Toronto has been linked with free agent Jack Roslovic in the past, but the two sides are once again being connected.

The Maple Leafs front office has been wanting to add another top-six forward to the mix, and Roslovic could be the answer. The veteran remains on the free agent market, in what has been a strange offseason for him.

Roslovic is coming off a very strong season with the Carolina Hurricanes, so his still being available is one of the bigger mysteries of the summer. In 81 regular-season games for the Hurricanes, Roslovic put up 22 goals and 17 assists.

Most players who put up these types of numbers have been signed already, making Roslovic's free agency a little questionable. But there have been some rumors going around that Roslovic could be waiting for a certain team to open up enough cap space to sign him.

This could be the Maple Leafs, especially with all the smoke around the two sides. But for now, the pairing remains to be seen, and everything seems to be fluid, like most of free agency is.
