Maple Leafs Interested in Evan Rodrigues Trade: Report

With the Florida Panthers bringing back pretty much the entire core from last season, the team now faces some tough salary cap decisions. The team is over the cap by a few million, and they will need to cut money before the year starts.

One player that has been rumored to be traded to help is Evan Rodrigues. There have already been a few teams reaching out to Florida about a potential deal.

Among the teams interested in potentially landing Rodrigues is the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to The Fourth Period. Toronto has been searching for different ways to replace the production lost from Mitch Marner leaving in free agency, and Rodrigues could help solve some of the problems.

The Maple Leafs are looking for another top-six forward to add to the mix, and this would satisfy the desire. Rodrigues has been a big reason why the Panthers have been so successful on the ice, but with Florida potentially looking to shed salary, he could be the odd man out.

Rodrigues can play anywhere in the top nine, and could massively bolster this Maple Leafs roster if they were to add him. The biggest issue with any trade for Rodrigues is that Toronto doesn't have many tradable assets to work with.

But if general manager Brad Treliving were to get creative, he may be able to pull off a deal. Toronto has to do something to round out this offseason, and this could be a slam-dunk move for the Maple Leafs.
