The Toronto Maple Leafs had their game with the New Jersey Devils postponed, so their next games will be against the two New York teams. On Wednesday the Maple Leafs play the Rangers and on Saturday they play the Islanders.
As they prepare for those two games, the team has reported a number of player moves and injuries. In this post, I’ll try to help Maple Leafs’ fans stay up-to-date about this news.
Joseph Woll, who had his NHL debut this season, injured his knee during the Toronto Marlies’ AHL game on Saturday when he collided with a teammate. Right now, the last word I found was that the extent of the injury wasn’t yet known. He was to be evaluated on Sunday to determine how extensive his injury might be.

Although Woll has played four games with the big club and has a 3-1 record over those games, he’s not likely to see more action during the 2021-22 regular season unless one of the two main goalies – Jack Campbell or Petr Mrazek – can’t stay healthy.
Kyle Clifford is expected to be fine after having a scare when he was hurt when he was blocking a shot in Saturday’s game versus the St. Louis Blues. Clifford suffered a lower-body injury and left the game early in the third period.

At the time, Clifford wasn’t able to put much weight on his leg. Still, he hung in there and stayed on the bench just in case. The word on Clifford is that his status is day-to-day, but his injury report would be updated before Wednesday’s game against the Rangers.
Brett Seney was demoted to the AHL Marlies from the taxi squad yesterday. To date, Seney had played two NHL games on the season and had averaged just over 7:00 of TOI. He was held pointless in those games.
During his time with the Marlies this season, the 25-year-old Seney has registered 13 goals and 13 assists (for 26 points) in 24 games. In his first game back yesterday, Seney had a four-point night. He scored the game-tying goal in the third period. He also registered three assists, including the primary assist on Joey Anderson’s overtime goal. He has eight points (two goals and six assists) in his last three Marlies’ games.
The Maple Leafs re-assigned Joey Anderson from their taxi squad to the AHL Marlies yesterday. Anderson had received game time in three NHL games this season, and he had averaged 7:46 of TOI. Similar to Seney, he also had not scored in those three NHL games.

Yesterday, in his first game back with the Marlies in almost two weeks, Anderson scored a hat trick. He scored his first two goals in the first period and then scored the overtime winner. This was his second career hat trick and his second this season with the Marlies.
Currently, Anderson has points (5-1-6) in his last two games with the Marlies. The 23-year-old Anderson has registered 13 goals and five assists (for 18 points) in his 22 AHL games on the season.
