Maple Leafs Predicted to Land 7-Time All-Star in Big Offseason Move

As the offseason gets going for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the organization could be undergoing some big changes. After another early postseason exit, Toronto could look to make a drastic move this summer.

The Maple Leafs have multiple key players entering free agency, with Mitchell Marner and John Tavares being the two main ones. Both players could leave Toronto this summer, with Marner being the more likely to exit the franchise.

If that were to happen, Toronto would need to fill his production somehow. One way could be by going out onto the free agent market to see who they could land.

Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report linked the Maple Leafs with seven-time All-Star Claude Giroux, who will be a free agent. Assuming the Maple Leafs lost some players, the two sides could work out a deal that would be mutually beneficial.

"That would leave a massive hole in their offense, without many big-time options to replace them on the open market. Giroux could be a solid, cost-efficient replacement, and it would also give him an opportunity to play for a team that should be a Stanley Cup contender. That could give him an opportunity to chase one of the few things his career is missing: a Stanley Cup ring."

Giroux spent this past season with the Ottawa Senators, putting up 15 goals and 35 assists. Despite his advanced age (37), Giroux showed that he could still be a productive member of a team.

Ottawa made the postseason this year behind a strong collection effort. Giroux scored one goal and four assists in six playoff games for the Senators.

The veteran could fit in nicely with the Maple Leafs, bringing some new energy to the team. Toronto has multiple different options for this offseason, but Giroux could be a solid consolation signing if the Maple Leafs lose some players.
