The Toronto Maple Leafs are moving on from the fallout of Anthony Stolarz’s blunt postgame criticism after Saturday’s overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken.
Following the 4–3 defeat, Stolarz voiced frustration with his teammates’ effort, saying they were “outworked” and warning that “enough’s enough.”
Stolarz's comments drew immediate attention as the veteran goaltender questioned Toronto’s compete level just six games into the season.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube acknowledged the remarks on Monday, per David Alter of The Hockey News, saying that while frustration is part of the game, those conversations should stay internal.

“It’s frustration, we all prefer it stay in the room, but it happens, but we’ve moved on from it,” Berube said.
Stolarz’s remarks came after a game that saw him run over by opponents in the crease without much pushback from teammates.
The goaltender later clarified that he had spoken directly with star winger William Nylander, whom Stolarz indirectly referenced in his postgame criticism.
“I pulled Willy aside, we had a conversation,” Stolarz said, per Sportsnet's Anna Dua. “He’s someone I admire and someone I respect deeply. He pushes me, I push him. We’re a family in here.”
Nylander, who leads the team with 11 points in six games, downplayed any tension with his teammate.
“It’s all good,” Nylander said, per TSN's Mark Masters. “Look, we're teammates. He's a great guy. There's nothing that we need to, you know, talk about here. Yeah, he talked to me after and it’s all good. It's been no issue since.”
Captain Auston Matthews also chimed in, revealing the group met after the loss to clear the air.
“I mean we all talked,” Matthews said. “We’re a veteran group in here, we’re all big boys we don’t need to beat around the bush.”
The Maple Leafs sit at 3–2–1 and return home Tuesday to face the New Jersey Devils.
