Maple Leafs Reveal Major Injury Update on Anthony Stolarz

The Toronto Maple Leafs are heading back home for Game 5 of their second-round playoff series with the Florida Panthers tied 2-2. Toronto dropped both games on the road in Florida, seeing their quick 2-0 lead disappear just as fast.

The Maple Leafs have been playing without starting goalie Anthony Stolarz after he suffered a scary injury during Game 1. Stolarz collided with Panthers forward Sam Bennett and was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Stolarz is still recovering and hasn't been able to return to the ice. But Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube did provide another injury update on his goalie.

"He's doing much better.", he said.

It's clear at this time when Stolarz will be able to return to the ice, so backup goalie Joseph Woll will continue to start. Woll has been decent for the Maple Leafs, but he knows that he needs to be better.

Woll got lit up in Game 3, allowing five goals. But in Game 4, Woll calmed things down, only allowing two goals to Florida.

“Very rarely it’s going to be a walk in the park,” Woll said. “We’re expecting a long series. I think every time you go into a series with a team you expect a long series, and it’s going to go back and forth with the momentum shifts.”

If the Maple Leafs are going to win this series, Woll will need to carry them forward. Luckily for Toronto, they have played much better at home this postseason, and two of the next three games will be played at Scotiabank Arena.
