Maple Leafs sign Calle Jarnkrok to four-year, $8.4 million deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs added some attacking depth to their roster ahead of the weekend.

Per ESPN and the Maple Leafs' official website, Toronto has signed forward Calle Jarnkrok to a four-year contract. The deal is worth $8.4 million and carries an average annual value of $2.1 million.

Most recently, Jarnkrok began the 2021-22 season with the expansion Seattle Kraken but was ultimately traded to the Calgary Flames ahead of the March deadline for a 2022 second-round draft selection and two other picks. The 30-year-old appeared in 66 total regular-season games and tallied 12 goals and 18 assists. He then went on to feature in 12 playoff contests for the Flames and added one goal and three assists over those matchups.

Calgary was eliminated from the postseason tournament in the second round by the Edmonton Oilers.

The Detroit Red Wings selected Jarnkrok in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft, but he made his league debut in 2013-14 with the Nashville Predators. Across 574 career regular-season games, he's recorded 106 goals and 135 assists.
