The Toronto Maple Leafs and Nick Robertson have avoided arbitration by agreeing to terms on a new one-year contract worth $1.825 million, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday morning.
Robertson, 23, collected 15 goals and 22 points in 69 games with the Maple Leafs during the 2024-25 regular season. The 5’9″ left wing tacked on a goal and an assist in three playoff contests with the club in the spring.
The Maple Leafs and Robertson had been slated to attend an arbitration hearing on Sunday. With that appointment now cancelled, the NHL’s annual arbitration season has come to a close without a single player sitting in front of a neutral third party.

All arbitration is done.
A second-round pick (No. 53 overall) of the Maple Leafs in the 2019 NHL Draft, Robertson has yet to find his groove as an everyday NHLer but has taken small steps forward in each season to date. Through 156 career games, the Pasadena, California product has racked 32 goals and 56 points.
Both Robertson brothers (Nick and Dallas Stars forward Jason) have been the subject of headlines this offseason. While Nick’s contract situation was largely procedural, Jason’s is more complex, with the Stars reportedly contemplating whether to trade the two-time 40-goal scorer instead of committing more money to another winger — one potentially made redundant by the Mikko Rantanen acquisition in March.
Nick’s arbitration case was pretty straightforward, with the two sides settling nearly in the middle of the numbers they set on Friday. The Maple Leafs staked their claim at $1.2 million, while the player aimed for $2.25 million.
The Maple Leafs have embarked upon a relatively exhaustive roster overhaul this offseason, made inevitable by the highly publicized departure of Mitch Marner. Robertson could see his role increase to fill that void, although he’ll be in competition with newcomers Matias Maccelli, Nicolas Roy, and trade deadline acquisition Scott Laughton.
