Mark Scheifele Scores Emotional Goal in Honour of His Father Who Passed Today

Mark Scheifele suffered a brutal loss overnight, and in a critical Game 6, he scored the opening goal in what was an incredibly emotional scene in Dallas.

Early on Saturday, it was revealed that Winnipeg Jets star forward Mark Scheifele suffered a major loss overnight, with the announcement that his beloved father had passed away just hours before the game.

While there were question marks over his availability for the game, the veteran forward revealed that it's what his father would have wanted, so he is playing this must-win Game 6 for his dad.

Into the second period, the score was tied at 0-0 between these two talented Central Division teams before Scheifele broke the deadlock, scoring perhaps the most emotional goal of his entire career.

While the home crowd in Dallas weren't happy about the goal, there's no doubting that everyone in the NHL is thrilled for Scheifele, who is playing through incredibly tough circumstances, ones that would potentially limit many other players from even taking to the ice.

Whatever the circumstances in the game, this was an amazing moment for Scheifele, and it was clear to see how much it meant to him in the corner as he was celebrating with his teammates.

Whether the Jets go on to win the Stanley Cup or not this season, this was an absolutely amazing moment for their veteran forward who paid tribute to his fallen father in the best way possible, and if they're eliminated, Scheifele has won the respect and the love of everyone in the NHL (if he hadn't already had it), with the veteran star showing exactly why he's so beloved in the city of Winnipeg.
