The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set for a Stanley Cup Finals rematch, and it appears as though Matthew Tkachuk knew this was coming all along.

After a thrilling seven-game series in 2024, the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set to do battle yet again in 2025, and this time the stakes are even higher.

This is now set to become one of the NHL's best modern rivalries, and ahead of the rematch, Matthew Tkachuk reveals that he knew all along this rematch would be happening in 2025 after such a tight battle a season ago.

I think it's pretty clear we're the two best teams in the league.

Not one to mix his words, Tkachuk made it clear that Florida and Edmonton are the two best teams in the entire NHL, and after just one goal separated them a season ago, this matchup is set to be just as tight and exciting.

This time around, the Oilers are absolutely rolling and appear much better suited for battle, but with the additions of Seth Jones and Brad Marchand, Florida are just as motivated and even better as they look to go back-to-back in their third straight Stanley Cup Finals.

Tkachuk's comments make it clear too that the Panthers won't be taking Edmonton lightly, as they're aware this is one of the best two teams in the NHL, and with so many superstars on both sides, this will be a matchup for the ages.

Ultimately, no one knows who is coming out on top in this series, but after a long, gruelling post-season, it's the two best teams in the league left standing, something that Gary Bettman and the NHL would absolutely love.
