McDavid Might Be the Most Dominant Player at These Olympics

Any fan who’s watching Team Canada in Milano Cortina has probably noticed that everything’s going exactly as planned. That’s not to say there haven’t been the usual on-ice problems or concerns. There always are. Still, so far, Canada’s looked exactly like a team that knows what it’s supposed to do.

And the person leading the charge? Connor McDavid.

Team Canada Has Been Clicking in What They’ve Tried

Scott Laughlin was on The FAN Hockey Show talking about this very thing, and the picture he painted is hard to argue with. Canada’s been able to mix and match lines a bit—testing combos, feeling out chemistry—but there’s a core that’s just clicked. Sidney Crosby, Mitch Marner, or whatever alignment is rolling right now, has gelled nicely. But McDavid’s line is dominating.

Laughlin pointed out how the opening game, that near-perfect showing against Team Switzerland, set the bar sky-high. Since then, Canada hasn’t really stumbled.

There are, of course, little things to watch. Some injuries have popped up—Josh Morrissey, Brad Marchand, and Nathan MacKinnon are taking minor knocks. But nothing has changed the story so far. The real takeaway is that the pre-tournament plan seems to be working. The top talent is rolling, the skill has been shining, and momentum is building heading into the knockout rounds starting Wednesday. Denmark, or whoever awaits, will have their hands full.

McDavid Deserves the Spotlight

And yes, McDavid deserves the spotlight. Nine points in nine periods is a statement. Laughlin made an interesting point: the NHL competition McDavid faces week in and week out is arguably tougher than what he’s seeing here. Still, he’s not just scoring—he’s physically dominant.

McDavid has been running through defenders and leading by example in a way even a playoff McDavid doesn’t always do. He’s setting the tone, and the rest of Team Canada is stepping up in kind. Obviously, McDavid is not alone on Team Canada. But he’s showing that he’s a superstar who knows he’s the guy. His leadership lifts everyone.

Team Canada Looks Confident and Ready for Whatever Comes

Canada’s offence looks confident, balanced, and aggressive. And while the games will get tougher from here, the blueprint is clear. Keep McDavid engaged, let him lead both with skill and physicality, and ride the momentum he’s creating.

If you’re a fan, it’s a thrill to watch. If you’re an opponent, good luck. Because right now, McDavid isn’t just carrying Canada. He’s showing them the way to the gold.
