Meet the Winnipeg Jets Draft Class of 2025

The Winnipeg Jets class of 2025 has been drafted. Take a look to see who the Jets took with their five picks in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Sascha Boumedienne – 28th Overall

Sascha Boumedienne was the youngest player in NCAA hockey to start the 2024-25 season, and he soared in his role just as a 17-year-old defender. The now 18-year-old has a year of college under his belt as he graduated high school a year early to make the necessary strides in his game.

Like any draft pick, there’s room for improvement. As long as he grows stronger and adapts to the growing game, Boumedienne will be in good shape by the time he turns pro.

Reading some quotes from The Athletic, Boumedienne thrives in tough situations and can play big minutes. Other scouting reports praise him for his calmness and how he elevates his play in big moments.

The 2025 28th overall draft selection will return to Boston University for the 2025-26 season, looking to step into a bigger role with the team.

Owen Martin – 92nd Overall

When’s the last time the Winnipeg Jets drafted a Manitoban? It’s been a few years, that’s for sure. Oakbank, Manitoba’s own Owen Martin, is a known character player who plays a more shutdown defence role.

Martin expressed how cool it was to be drafted by his hometown team. His strong WHL playoff performance shows that a full season with Spokane will do him wonders. While his regular season was cut short, there was more than enough shown in his game to warrant a draft selection.

Martin will likely begin the 2025-26 season with the Spokane Chiefs before exploring what’s next in his career.

Viktor Klingsell – 156th Overall

Viktor Klingsell went a lot later in the draft than people expected him to. I’ve seen Klingsell on lists as high as mid-to-late 40s and nothing in the 120s. When the fifth round came by and Klingsell was available, it seemed like a no-brainer for the Jets to take him.

The analysts also mentioned that Klingsell could be the steal of the draft, and one has to wonder if he can live up to a role in the Jets’ top or middle six. Given the program he plays in back in Sweden at Skelleftea, there should be no question about his development plan and path before he jumps to North America.

Klingsell will begin the 2025-26 season back in Sweden with Skelleftea.

Edison Engle – 188th Overall

The Jets picked up an American defender who has a bit of time spread out development wise. He spent the 2024-25 seaosn with Dubuque of the USHL, is committed to the OHL for 2025-26, and is committed to Ohio State University.

Engle provides a low-risk, high-reward scenario for the Jets as he’s a strong puck retriever and creates space in front of the net. If he can provide more offensive upside to his game, the Jets could have found a diamond in the rough in this draft.

Jacob Cloutier – 220th Overall

Cloutier had a near 50-point season with the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL, all in 67 games. You might wonder why a player like Cloutier drops down to the seventh round, and given the physical playstyle that he plays, it’s even more interesting.

A 5-foot-10, 171-pound frame, Cloutier has a combination of abilities from smaller and larger players, and that can work to his benefit. He’s fast, and has a lot of upside, and that makes this seventh-round pick so much more interesting at face value.
