
The Dallas Stars made a trade within the division acquiring forward Michael Bunting from the Nashville Predators. The Stars are sending the Predators a 2026 third-round pick which originally belonged to the Seattle Kraken. Bunting this season has played 61 games, scoring 31 points on 13 goals and 18 assists. He’s a -17 with five power play goals and a game-winning goal. This marks the third trade deadline that Bunting has been moved, first traded from Carolina to Pittsburgh in 2024 then from Pittsburgh to Nashville in 2025, and now from Nashville to Dallas.

The Arizona Coyotes drafted Bunting 117th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut on December 11, 2018. He scored a goal in that game for his first career point. Bunting appeared in 26 games for the Coyotes recording 14 points on 11 goals and three assists. He’s a minus-one with three power-play goals and a game-winning goal. He then joined the Toronto Maple Leafs where in two seasons he appeared in 161 games recording 112 points on 46 goals and 66 assists. He’s a +48 with nine power-play goals and six game-winning goals.
Then he was off to Carolina where he played in 60 games recording 36 points on 13 goals and 23 assists. He was a -15 with six power-play goals and a game-winning goal. Then traded to the Penguins. In 79 games, he had 48 points 20 goals, 28 assists. He was a -22 with ten power-play goals and three game-winning goals. Bunting was then traded to Nashville where he played in 79 games recording 40 points on 18 goals and 22 assists. He was a -18 with seven power-play goals and a game-winning goal. In 13 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has five points on two goals and three assists; he’s a minus-two.
