According to a team announcement, the Minnesota Wild have recalled forward Tyler Pitlick from the AHL’s Iowa Wild. The transaction indicates that veteran Nick Foligno will miss tomorrow’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after exiting last night’s contest with an upper-body injury.
Pitlick, 34, is in his second year with the Wild. He signed a two-year, $1.63MM ($812.5K AAV) contract with Minnesota ahead of the 2025-26 campaign after spending the 2024-25 season with the AHL’s Providence Bruins.
Unlike his brief tenure in the Bruins organization, Pitlick returned to the NHL with the Wild. Skating as a bottom-six forward, Pitlick finished the 2025-26 season with two goals in 32 games with a -4 rating, averaging 7:46 of ice time per game. He also delivered 78 hits while managing a 92.7% on-ice SV% at even strength.
Pitlick understandably performed much better offensively with AHL Iowa. The veteran was one of the few bright spots on a team that has made the postseason only twice since moving to Des Moines ahead of the 2013-14 season. Pitlick finished the season with 10 goals and 15 points in 20 games with a -6 rating.
Because he was injured last night, the Wild haven’t issued a firm timeline for Foligno’s recovery. He skated in 3:29 of action in Minnesota’s loss to the Buffalo Sabres last night, and didn’t return for the second period. The 20-year veteran has registered one goal in three games this season while playing on the Wild’s fourth line.
