The Montreal Canadiens have a decision to make on Carey Price, and they're reportedly looking to make several deals around his contract being moved.
The Montreal Canadiens took a huge step forward in 2024/25, and with their emerging talent combined with the addition of Noah Dobson, hopes are even higher for this team heading into the new season.
They've been busy improving this team throughout the off-season, but with training camp still a few weeks away, there's a chance they could be looking to make some more moves before the regular season begins.
Perhaps the biggest move this team is preparing to make is the trade of Carey Price, whose contract is now very moveable, and for a team that's looking to get to the cap floor, it would be a great pickup, with sources stating that a trade has been in the works for some time.
'I've heard Price's contract being in play for a while, things should shake loose as of September 1st or soon after. I can't see the Canadiens going into the season with that anchor on their salary cap.'The team have indicated they are ready to attach draft capital to the final year of Price's contract to move it, and if that happens, it will give them immense flexibility moving forward into the regular season.

According to reports, the team are looking to pair the Price trade with the addition of a centre, likely from the Western Conference, meaning that they could use a retired players contract and draft capital to fill perhaps their biggest need heading into the new season.
With so much young talent, the Canadiens are set to be a force in 2025/26, and if they can use the Price contract and draft capital to fill the 2C role on this team, there's no reason why they can't be a genuine Stanley Cup Playoffs threat.
