Montreal Canadiens Place Nine on Waivers

The Montreal Canadiens concluded their preseason schedule with a split-squad game against Ottawa. They split the split-squad, winning 4-2 at home and losing 4-3 on the road. The win had goals from Juraj Slafkovsky, Phillip Danault, Noah Dobson, and Chris Kreider. Samuel Montembeault stopped all 14 shots he faced and got the win, while Jacob Fowler stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced. In the loss, Sasha Pastujov, Brett Berard, and Alex Belzile scored. Jakub Dobes stopped 22 of the 26 shots he faced while playing the whole game.

The Canadiens today placed forwards Samuel Poulin, Sasha Pastujov, Hunter McKown, Brett Berard, and Alex Belzile, along with defensemen Reilly Walsh, Ethan Samson, and Maksymillian Szuber, and goalie Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers with the purpose of sending them to Laval in the AHL.

All eight skaters recorded a point during the preseason; Pastujov and Belzile had two points. All eight were also plus in plus/minus. Berard was a plus-three; Pastujov, McKown, Walsh, and Szuber were plus-two. Poulin, Belzile, and Samson were plus-one. Kahkonen picked up a win and stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced in his appearance.
