National Anthem Decision Before USA-Canada Rematch Draws Strong Response

Over the weekend the United States clinched a spot in the 4 Nation's Face-Off championship game with a 3-1 win over Canada thanks to a go-ahead goal from Dylan Larkin in the second period.

"That was one of the best experiences of my life -- just an unbelievable hockey game," Larkin said after the game. "What a start, and credit to those guys for answering the bell. And the crowd, just a great night for our sport and a great night for this rivalry."

Team USA went on to lose a meaningless game against Sweden while Canada took down Finland 5-3, which set up a rematch between the two countries set to take place on Thursday night.

Ahead of the looming showdown, the NHL made the controversial decision to change who will be singing the national anthem. The game, taking place from TD Garden - home of the Boston Bruins - won't have familiar voice Todd Angilly.

"I don’t know who, but unfortunately Todd Angilly will not perform the anthem tonight. Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman recently said there’s no one better than Angilly. Too bad!" Bruins insider Joe McDonald said.

Angilly received praise from Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who is part of Team USA, ahead of the tournament.

"He’s one of the best to ever do it. I’ve gotten the opportunity to get to know him personally and what an incredible human; he cares so much and he’s the right man for the job. He knows how to start this game, (Bruins) games, every game for that matter. He brings the energy no matter what time it is, what day it is and we’re really fortunate to have that in Boston. It’s going to be really special for him to let the world know on this stage."

Unfortunately for Angilly, he won't be delivering the anthem, it seems.
