Nazem Kadri believed he should make the Team Canada camp roster, and after expressing frustration, he's opened up on the snub.
For the past three seasons in Calgary, Nazem Kadri has been one of the Flames most consistent players, and after a career high 35 goals in 2024/25, he's proven that he can still get it done at a high level as he enters his mid-30's.
However, Kadri was snubbed from Team Canada's Olympic Games training camp roster this off-season, making his frustrations known on Instagram as he posted '???' on a post announcing the roster.
Team Canada is still loaded with talent, but after some very successful campaigns in recent years, it's safe to say that Kadri should have found himself somewhere on the camp roster, even if he didn't make the eventual team heading to Italy.
Now, he's addressed the snub, and unsurprisingly, he's been very straight forward in his confidence and belief in himself, suggesting that he deserved to be given the opportunity to compete in camp.
'I feel like I deserve a chance. I think over the last few seasons I've certainly proven that with my statistics and my winning pedigree. I think it speaks for itself.Honestly, man, it would be an absolute dream come true to somehow crack that team. I've been a long shot before. I'm looking forward to giving myself an opportunity. But I understand I'm going to have to play well.'
Ultimately, it appears Kadri knew it would be a long shot to make the roster, but given the odds he's overcome to make it to the NHL, he believes he could have done just that, but now, he'll have to go out and prove Canada wrong in 2025/26 with Calgary.
