Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are at odds with one another and it has subsequently led to a whole lot of trade rumors involving the goaltender.
Swayman wants a long-term deal with the Bruins, however, it seems like the two are far apart on the term. This has led to increased speculation about a trade, and there are some interesting proposals popping up online. For instance, NHL Trade Rumor made the claim that the Bruins could target John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks. In fact, the Ducks could be willing to give up a first-round pick alongside Gibson, knowing that Swayman could be a franchise goalie.
'For the Ducks, acquiring Swayman represents a calculated gamble. They're banking on his potential to blossom into a franchise goaltender, anchoring their young core for years to come. Anaheim's roster, bursting with talent like Trevor Zegras, Leo Carlsson, and Cutter Gauthier, is on the cusp of playoff contention. Securing Swayman's services could be the catalyst that propels them into the postseason, potentially as early as next season.'
Despite the logic, a trade for Gibson would not make sense for the Bruins right now. Gibson just went through a surgery which means he could be out for the foreseeable future. It just would not behoove the Bruins to trade for a guy who probably won't be ready for opening night.
