The roster consists of 14 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders. One of their forwards, Nick Bjugstad, is on the injured/non-roster list. The Devils recently announced he underwent surgery and will be out for four to six months, so this was not too much of a surprise.

Amadeus Lombardi is also making the Devils’ opening night roster, which is a great moment for the young forward. The Devils acquired him in June, in exchange for the Devils’ 4th-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. He has spent the past three seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapids Griffins. His NHL debut will be on the Devils’ home opener, which will be a fantastic moment for him.

Two defensemen, Seamus Casey and Johnathan Kovacevic, are also on the injured/non-roster list. Kovacevic was not a major participant in training camp due to rehabbing an injury. Casey was also injured in the Devils’ last preseason game, and head coach Sheldon Keefe announced that he will be away for some time.

The Devils also have three goaltenders on their roster: Jake Allen, Nico Daws, and Remi Poirier. This will be the first season for Allen as the starting goaltender, with Daws as his backup. The Devils just picked Poirier up from waivers on Sept. 27 from the Dallas Stars. The team clearly believes in Poirier’s skill as a goaltender. He has yet to play his first NHL game, but with him on the Devils roster to start the season, there is a good chance that he could make his debut with the Devils.

The Devils open their season on Oct. 1 at home, hosting the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 PM ET.
