New Jersey Devils Sign Riley Tufte

The New Jersey Devils are signing forward Riley Tufte to a one-year contract. Tufte is coming off a 30-goal season with the Providence Bruins, leading the team, as he finished with 32 goals. In 64 games, he had 56 points. He finished first on Providence in goals, tied for sixth in assists, second in points, and third in plus/minus. He had five power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and seven game-winning goals. In four playoff games, he had a goal, which came on the power play, and he was a minus-four. He appeared in four games for Boston, scoring a power-play goal and was a minus-one. This past season in Providence was his best season in the AHL.

This past season was his second in Providence but his seventh in the AHL. He’s appeared in 395 games, recording 222 points on 111 goals and 111 assists. He’s a +63 with 15 power-play goals, six shorthanded goals, and 20 game-winning goals. In 24 Calder Cup Playoff games, he has 11 points on five goals and six assists. He’s a minus-four with two power-play goals. Tufte has appeared in 28 career NHL games, recording three goals and an assist. He’s a minus-seven with a power-play goal and a game-winning goal. He spent three seasons at Minnesota-Duluth before making the jump to the pros. In 121 games, he had 64 points on 34 goals and 30 assists; he was a +28 as well.
