New Jersey Devils Sign Veteran to Bonus-Filled Deal

The New Jersey Devils organization has officially signed a veteran forward to a bonus-filled deal for the 2025-26 NHL season.

It has been an uneventful offseason so far for the New Jersey Devils, who mostly did what they had to do to remain competitive, but nothing big to bolster the team ahead of the next season.

However, the organization surprised its fans by announcing a new deal last night.

Indeed, it was confirmed that the New Jersey Devils agreed on the terms of a deal with the 36-year-old veteran Evgenii Dadonov.

This morning, Elliotte Friedman shared details of the deal, which notably included multiple performance bonuses and a no-trade clause until March 1 that will become a 10-team trade list after that date.

Dadonov, 36, spent parts of the last three seasons, since 2022-23, with the Dallas Stars after the Montreal Canadiens traded him to Dallas ahead of the deadline. Dadonov later signed a two-year contract with Dallas and earned 78 points in 154 regular-season games with the team. The 5'11", 190 lbs. forward scored 40 points, including 20 goals, in 80 games last season.

In his career, Dadonov has registered 361 points, including 163 goals, in 617 regular-season games for the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars.

The Russian veteran also brings a lot of playoff experience, with 22 points in 55 games, including three straight Western Conference Finals runs with the Stars.

Dadonov will bring some secondary scoring to the Devils' lineup, likely in a power play and third-line role.

If players can avoid injuries this year, they have all they need to get back into the playoffs, with great goalies, scorers, and defensemen.
