The New York Rangers are looking to make some big changes this summer, and now, a top new defensive trade target has been revealed for the team.
The 2024/25 campaign didn't go the way that anyone in New York would have hoped, and now, with a new Head Coach in Mike Sullivan, the Rangers are looking to turn things around in a big way.
That has involved plenty of speculation around how they're going to play things this summer, with many believing they are ready to make a splash on the open market as they look to shake up this talented but underwhelming roster.
Now, they reportedly have their eyes on a top defensive piece, as it has been rumoured the team are going to be in hot pursuit of free agent Vladislav Gavrikov, who has played the last three seasons with the Los Angeles Kings.
According to Arthur Staple, that's a player the Rangers are keeping a close eye on, and while a return to Los Angeles is very possible for the 29-year old, if he hits the open market, he's got some big offers coming his way.
In 2024/25, Gavrikov tallied 5 goals and 30 points in all 82 games, along with an impressive +26 differential on the year, and given his frame at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, it's easy to see why teams see him as a difference maker on the blue line.
Now, we wait and see what levels of interest there will be in Gavrikov this summer, but if he does make it to the open market, don't be surprised if it's New York that put in the biggest bid for the veteran blue liner.
