New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck is facing backlash after the his choice of Halloween costume drew a wave of negative attention.
The Rangers are enjoying another successful season so far in 2024. Pegged as possible Stanley Cup finalists, the team is backed by a bevy of star players like Alexis Lafreniere, Igor Shesterkin, Artemi Panarin, and Vincent Trocheck. Currently second in the Metropolitan Division, the Rangers are feeling good an eighth of the way through the season.
Well, it is the time of the year for scares and frights, and while Halloween is a fun day to watch movies or dress in outlandish costumes; some people take it too far. It seems Trocheck didn't get the memo, as he was seen on Instagram posing with his partner in a costume representative of notorious criminals, the Menendez Brothers.
The post has since been deleted, however, it showed Trocheck and his partner dressed like both brothers and holding NERF guns to simulate firearms. It was a shocking display of disrespect to the Menendez family and the city of New York as a whole.
The crime involving the Menendez Brothers was worldwide news. The brothers also gained notoriety for a completely different reason, as they decided to watch a New York Knicks game courtside at Madison Square Garden.
Their appearance was forever engrained in history, as they were photographed in the background of New York Knicks point guard Mark Jackson.
