NHL Analyst Links Top-Four Sharks Defenseman to Two Canadian Teams

According to NHL analyst Michael DeRosa, two Canadian teams are rumored to be possibilities for Mario Ferraro: the Winnipeg Jets and the Calgary Flames.

The Jets would be a natural fit. Having a need for another left-shooting defenseman, Ferraro would be a great second-pairing addition for them and a good penalty-kill threat.

His game is a good complement to Winnipeg's needs and might bring depth to their roster for next season, which can finally push them over the playoff hump.

While this is happening, the Flames want to build on their recent success and take one more run higher in 2025-26.

A left-shot defenseman who is a first-pairing player is high on their wish list, and Ferraro could be just the ticket they need. His experience and defensive stability would instantly improve Calgary's blue line.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are the lone American team linked to Ferraro

Outside of Canada, the Columbus Blue Jackets have been linked to Ferraro as well. The Jackets have been pursuing support on the left side of their blueline, and Ferraro could be the answer to that prayer.

With more cap space than they know what to do with, Columbus is in the perfect position to acquire his contract and make a serious push for the 25-year-old defenseman and the playoffs.

As the Sharks go about reshaping their roster, Ferraro's name is brought into play, and these three teams are at or near the head of the pack.
